My friends, we're now in the midst of that special season of the year called Lent. It began on Ash Wednesday -- February 17 --and ends with the events of Easter. For Christians, Easter is actually the most important day of the year.

This is the day we celebrate God's ultimate victory over sin and death. It's in Easter that our eternal salvation was won! That first Easter morning, Christ rose victorious from the dead and God's master plan of salvation was brought to fruition. In fact, it could be said that Easter was really the reason why God became incarnate in the person of Jesus and came to be one of us in the first place. This is why, for Christians, Easter is really most important event than any other of the year. For us, it's a time for joy; a time for celebration; a time for gratitude. But in order to get to Easter, we need to journey through the season of Lent.
