Winter 2009

As I write this article, the sky is gray and the leaves, having freshly fallen from the trees, are blowing about in the wind. To the north, I can see dark clouds near the horizon; and, on the news, the weatherman is telling us to prepare for the possibility of snow.

This scenario clearly reminds me that winter is just around the corner – and that’s kind of a bleak thought for someone like me. I tend to like the sun and the sand of summer a whole lot more than the ice and snow of winter. However, like old Chief Dan George used to say, “We shall endeavour to persevere.” There’s something good about the advent of winter though: with winter comes Christmas.......
